MEET HENRIK BLOMSTER, OUR DRIVING FORCE AT SPACE

Henrik Blomster plays a central role at Space, where he leads the work of developing the arena into a natural destination for meetings and events. Since the opening, he has also held the same responsibility at Sergel Hub and today manages both venues in parallel.

In this article, Henrik shares what makes Space unique, how it differs from Sergel Hub, and the kind of experiences he aims to create here moving forward.

Who are you?
I’m head of Space, haha! No, but I’m the operations manager for both Space and Sergel Hub.

How long have you worked with events?
I started as a project manager at Globen/Annexet/Hovet in 2007 when Baldakin held the contract. It was a great journey where I ended up as operations manager for the events division, also working with concept development. In 2012, Stureplansgruppen took over the contract, and that’s when my journey in the group began. During the pandemic, Stureplansgruppen stepped out of the arena contract and gave me the opportunity to move over to Sergel Hub.

You’ve had your eye on Space for a long time—how does it feel?
It honestly feels amazing, almost like a dream. Space feels like such a natural place within the group and an incredible complement to Sergel Hub. We use the same organization for both units, and I think that’s just awesome.

What’s the difference between Sergel Hub and Space?
Space is a truly unique venue—you arrive without any idea of what to expect. Then, as soon as you step inside, you almost get lost in the entrance alone. To have such a venue in such a central Stockholm location is unique in itself. It’s perfect for large meetings and launches.

What makes Sergel Hub unique, and what we’ve consistently received as feedback, is our flexibility, exclusivity, and that we are turnkey-ready. We keep repeating that at Sergel Hub “your creativity sets the limits”—and that’s because it’s exactly like that. With our white walls, clean lines, scalable rooms, and exclusivity meaning you’re the only one here—no parallel events—the opportunities are endless. Sergel Hub also has its impressive Live Kitchen, which makes the food experience and flow absolutely outstanding.

Hybrid events?
The ultimate hybrid event between Space and Sergel Hub would start the day with a car exhibition at Hub, then move over to Space for lunch and a presentation of the latest electric car technology. As the hours turn into evening, you’d head back across the street to Sergel Hub to enjoy good food, drinks, and dance the night away.

Why should clients book events with you?
Above all, because we have an incredible team here—we’re professional and bring many years of experience with a service mindset all the way down to the fingertips. And of course, clients should book their events with us because our venues are unique and centrally located in Stockholm, close to everything.

Most memorable event?
The first one that comes to mind has to be Spotify’s Wrapped event—it was executed so well and looked fantastic. I also clearly remember Clear Channel’s event, where they represented Stockholm City in different ways. It was beautifully done, and the amazing Desirée Jaks created the food—hmm, am I allowed to name-drop like this?

Dream event?
For Space, without a doubt, it would be a small, intimate concert inside the Arena hall. For Sergel Hub, it would be incredible to host a big gallery opening with lots of people sipping champagne and admiring amazing art—ouff.
